Complex and detailed NCRS frame off chassis restorations are available to motivated and patient Corvette owners. This is not a project for those in a hurry or on a budget.
A true frame off restoration requires that every single nut, bolt, wire, light bulb and component of the car be completely disassembled, cleaned, repaired, restored to the correct like new appearance as specified by the NCRS and finally verified as working properly.
Searches for 30 to 50 year old rare parts consumes a large amount of time. Frequently the parts, once located, require a significant amount of repair and restoration work to be both usable and safe prior to being installed on the chassis.
For example, locating the correct distributor, a commonly replaced part, for your car doesn't automatically mean the distributor is usable as delivered. Frequently the part may require cleaning and refinishing to factory specifications, as well as internal repairs or overhaul.
A correct and cosmetically appealing distibutor that doesn't work does no one any good. Dave's goal is to build an NCRS Corvette that doesn't just meet factory and NCRS build specifications, but is also safe and fun to drive.
Full NCRS frame off restorations take around 1 year to complete from start to finish for an entire car, including body and paint etc. The chassis work performed at Corvette Repair usually takes around 8-10 months depending on a myriad of variables.
During that time, the body and brightwork is being prepared by another shop, so some work is done in parallel. Once the chassis is completed, it is sent off to the body shop to be re-assembled and painted, along with the electrical and interior work.
Dave typically only works on one frame off project a year to maintain the focus required to do the job right. You must call and discuss the job in detail well in advance as a result.
Dave uses genuine factory assembly manuals purchased from Chevrolet "Back in the day" as his assembly bible along with extensive notes and knowledge gained by over 24 years of experience of working on Corvettes.
Dave is well connected with other NCRS quality repair gurus for the other phases of your restoration such as frame repair, fiberglass, paint, brightwork and interior experts. Using this team of experienced and proven professionals ensures the chassis is not only "correct" but the rest of the car is built correctly and is both safe and fun to drive.
